Born and raised in Manitoba, Canada, Elizabeth Johnson began writing to her relatives in Scotland at an early age, and self-published her first book of poetry and vivid stories at the age of eight years for a select clientele (family).  Elizabeth's father was a freelancer for the local newspaper, fond of observing human nature at its best and worst.  She spent her summers lakeside near a small Icelandic fishing community.  She remembers listening to the great stories told by her Scottish parents and Scandinavian playmates.  Ever since her earliest days, she loved story telling.

Elizabeth left Canada in 1980 to attend University of Arizona for a masters in music, after receiving a B.A./B.Ed. from University of Manitoba.  She studied history and literature as an undergraduate, and voice (opera) as a graduate student.  However, she never lost her love of good writing and storytelling.

After graduate school, Elizabeth moved to Seattle where she sang with Seattle Opera and raised a family.  Her career included working in the software industry as a usability engineer, and then as an editor.  "All those years of Latin in Canadian schools finally paid off!" she laughs.  Elizabeth began WordUp! in 2009 to assist businesses experiencing the economic necessity of reduced marketing budgets but still requiring excellence in their online and published materials.
